How To Screen Record with MainStage 3

How to screen record your MainStage 3 concert, and get audio with the video! Using Soundflower and Quicktime Player.

Step 1:
Install  Soundflower from here: https://github.com/mattingalls/Soundflower/releases/tag/2.0b2. Choose the Soundflower-2.0b2.dmg file.

Step 2:
Open  Audio MIDI Setup in your Utilities folder (inside of the Applications folder).

Step 3:
Make sure your  Audio Devices window is showing.

Step 4:
At the bottom of the  Audio Devices window, click the button and choose Create Multi-Output Device.

Step 5:
Setup your new Multi-Output Device like the picture below. In this example we named ours " Soundflower Recording". Set Master Device to Built-in Output. Under Use select Built-in Output and Soundflower (2ch).

Step 6:
In MainStage 3 go to  Preferences Audio Audio Output. Set that to the Soundflower Recording device we just created.

Step 7:
Open the  Quicktime Player app and select New Screen Recording.

Step 8:
In the  Screen Recording window, click the down arrow and choose Soundflower (2ch) in the Microphone list.

Step 9:
Make sure your main computer audio output is set to Internal Speakers, or to Headphones (when connected).

Step 10:
Now, when you play audio from MainStage 3, you will see audio levels in the Quicktime Player Screen Recording window, as well as hearing the audio in real-time from your computer speakers or headphones. Just hit the record button, and click to record the full screen.
